Q: Where are you from?
A: I am from a little town called Shirley, AR.
Q: What did you study in college? why?
A: I had a hard time deciding between two majors, so I went with both! I studied Public Relations and Political Science during my undergraduate work. I think that both of these majors work hand in hand together to provide me with the skills necessary to be an effective admissions counselor. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Applied Communication Studies.
Q: What parts of admissions counseling do you enjoy?
A: I love getting to know the students! I love showing students our campus and what our campus has to offer! Another great aspect of being an admissions counselor is answering all of your questions. Making the student comfortable about going to college is our job and I love it!
Q: What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
A: My favorite spot on campus is actually the student center! It is the most active place on campus! I love seeing all the students interact and someone will always say 'Hi' to you whether you say 'Hi' or not! It's great!
Q: What do you like most about Conway?
A: I like the location of Conway. Not only are there a ton of things to do right here in Conway, (shopping, restaurants, movies, etc.) we are close to EVERYTHING in Arkansas. You can drive about 30 minutes and be in Little Rock, where you can enjoy the exciting nightlife. You can drive in the other direction and enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities: hiking, rafting, backpacking, rock climbing. We're right in the heart of Arkansas, which means we're right in the heart of all the action!
Advice to Prospective Students
The best advice I have for prospective students is to visit your top three choices in colleges EARLY! It's a great feeling walking on to a college campus and knowing you belong there! It is a lot like walking into a store knowing you are going to buy something! Also, when you make your college campus visits, talk to other students! If the students you talk to are happy and love that college, there is a great chance you will too! GO UCA GO BEARS!
