ACADEMIC POLICIES

GENERAL ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

Credit courses available through the Division of Academic Outreach may be degree credit or non-degree credit.  Non-degree credit courses (workshops) are designed specifically to provide professional development and cannot be applied toward degree programs.

REGISTRATION

Tuition and fees for credit courses are due at the time of registration unless they are being paid by an approved third party.  Check, cash, and Visa / MasterCard /Discover are acceptable forms of payment.

If a student’s enrollment or admission is incomplete or if required documents are not submitted, the student will be asked to supply the necessary information by the second class meeting.  Failure to provide requested information by the second class will hinder enrollment.  In such case, tuition / fees for the class will be refunded.

REFUNDS

There are no refunds after attendance of one class meeting or after the first access of an Internet course.  A refund will be issued if a student is disenrolled for the reason of not providing specified enrollment/admissions information within the specified time.  Students wishing to drop must complete an official drop form prior to the third class meeting and must not have attended any classes to receive a refund.

FLAGS

If a student’s records are found to be flagged due to an outstanding obligation, the student will be informed and must take appropriate action to remove the flag.

DROP

Credit courses may be dropped only before the scheduled ending date of the course if there is no final exam.  All students should obtain a drop form from the Academic Outreach office during registration and follow the instructions for withdrawing from a class if withdrawal becomes necessary.  A student that drops prior to 60% of the class will receive a “w” grade. Students dropping after this point will receive a “wg”.  Students who receive a “wg” will show up on the grade roster. At this time, the faculty will give a “wp” (withdrawal with passing) or a “wf” withdrawal with failure).  This official grade will be reported.

E.g. A one week workshop lasting five days; 5 * 60%=3 days.  Students dropping on or before the third class day will receive a “w” those dropping after will receive a “wg” and the faculty will later grant either a “wp” or “wf”).
