ANNUAL ALUMNI EXHIBITION

The Friends of the Baum Gallery, UCA Foundation, Inc., annually sponsors an Alumni Exhibition that takes place during Homecoming Week. The exhibit is designed to share original art works created by, or collected by, UCA alumni.

Alumni collectors and artists are encouraged to submit works of art for review through the Baum Gallery director by email/electronic file: the annual selection is made by the Friends Advisory Council (alumni and community representatives).  Artists send a resume, slides or screen-resolution images (72 dpi), and an artist statement referencing the submitted art works.  Collectors send a resume and images with a statement about their collecting interests, focusing on the featured art works.

Send inquiries or proposals to the Baum Gallery, McAlister 101, University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey Avenue, Conway, AR 72035.  Materials will be returned with a provided self-addressed, stamped envelope enclosed for that purpose. Keith Melton: New Projects

Keith graduate from UCA in 1996 with a  Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He has exhibited in the 50th Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center, and was published in "Capture Arkansas 2010-Arkansas Through the Eyes of Arkansas Photographers", sponsored by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and Bedford Camera. Recently, Keith began creating a series of digital collages of people who have influenced him throughout his life using Google Image Search. He performs a query of the subject's full name, then selects images which best correspond to his subject. The final images are combined into a layered collage. He also makes mini-portraits using an iPhone drawing application called Autodesk Sketchbook. Keith lives in Little Rock and is currently employed at the Arkansas Arts Center as a Preparator and Assistant Registrar. Exuberant Color: Paintings and Ceramic by Allie Maxwell Nottingham

Allie graduated from UCA Spring 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. It was at UCA that she received formal training, and her style became more apparent. She was inspired by artists such as Van Gogh and Matisse, and began using bold color choices, and expressive brushstrokes. Allie was fortunate to study under Arkansas Impressionist Barry Thomas who taught her the business side of being an artist. Currently, her pet portraits on canvas have been featured in At Home in Arkansas, and are so popular that she has had a continuous waiting list for over a year now. On January 15, 2007,  Allie and her father, Steve Maxwell,  opened The Painted Pig,  a “Paint-Your-Own- Pottery Studio”, where children and adults alike can paint pottery that is pre-formed. Allie lives in Little Rock with her husband, Joey Nottingham.
