Fall 2011
Sophomore Major Advancement Interview (SMAI):
Interviews times will be scheduled for Monday, November 21, 2011 and Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Sign-up sheet will be posted on the door of the Art Office, McAlister 101 on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 8:00 am.
BFA Applications, BFA Problem Proposals, BFA Internship Proposals:
Applications for admission into the BFA Program, as well as Problem and Internship proposals by current BFA students are due Thursday, November 10, 2011, by 4:00 pm to the Art Office, McAlister 101.
Please Note:
BFA Internship proposals must be signed by the faculty member sponsoring the internship. Internship proposals lacking signatures will not be considered.
BFA Problem proposals must be signed by the primary and secondary advisor. Problem proposals lacking signatures will not be considered.
Students may submit application for admission to the BFA program within the semester they are attempting the SMAI. Acceptance into the program is contingent upon successful completion of the SMAI and approval of application.
Directed Studies
Directed Study proposals are due Thursday, November 10, 2011, by 4:00 pm to the Art Office, McAlister 101.
Notice: Proposals must be signed by your faculty mentor or they will not be considered.
Baum Gallery- BA/BFA Juried Senior Exhibition
Works in all media by graduate candidates in the UCA Department of Art
On View: November 10, 2011- December 8, 2011
Opening Receptions: Thursday, November 10. 4-6 pm, and Sunday, November 13, 2-4 pm.
- senior announcement card design is due to Ms. McConnell Tuesday, September 20, 2011
- files are due to the printer on or before Tuesday, October 4, 2011.
- student mailing lists due to the Art Office by Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Click here for mailing list form.
- group does bulk mailing on Thursday, October 20, 2011, in the Baum Gallery at X-period
- work is due in gallery with final inventory sheet and artist statement and labels on cd on or before Friday, November 4, 2011 by 5pm (use statement and label format as shown on forms provided on web site)
- installation is Monday and Tuesday, November 7 & 8, 2011, beginning at 9am
- work must be retrieved by 5pm Friday, December 9, 2011.
- works not retrieved will be transported to the Schichtl Studio Building hallway
Spring 2012
Baum Gallery-Annual Student Competitive
Sponsored by the UCA Department of Art
Submission of up to three pieces/works, free of charge. Entries must have been created Spring 2011, Fall 2011, or Spring 2012.
On View: March 8, 2012-March 29, 2012
Opening Receptions: Thursday, March 8, 2012, 4-6pm and Sunday, March 11, 2012, 2-4pm.
- students deliver labeled art work with completed entry form to the Baum Gallery Thursday, March 1, 2012 and Friday, March 2, 2012, between 10am-5pm.
- list of accepted works are posted on the gallery door, Monday. March 5, 2012 by noon.
- students retrieve unaccepted works on or before Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
- accepted works must be retrieved after exhibit on Friday, March 30, 2012 before 5 pm.
- works not retrieved will be transported to the Schichtl Studio Building hallway

Interviews times for Interim SMAI (for students who did not participate in or complete the SMAI in the fall) will be scheduled for Thursday, March 29, 2012 and Friday, March 30, 2012. Sign-up sheet will be posted on the door of the Art Office, McAlister 101 on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 8:00 am.

22st Annual Arkansas College Art History Symposium

Call for Papers
Students from all Arkansas colleges and universities are invited to submit proposals for papers to be read at the Twenty-second Annual Arkansas College Art History Symposium, at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Proposals are welcome on any topic within the field of art history and typically reflect work done in a recent undergraduate art history course.
Abstract Deadline: Monday, February 6
