Department of BiologyFaculty
My general research approach bridges basic biological studies of freshwater fishes and current conservation/management issues. I am particularly interested in the ecology, physiology, and behavior of fishes in large rivers, streams, and wetlands. Examples of previous research are studies of fish swimming performance and behavior, impacts of commercial barge traffic on larval fish, and effects of water level management on backwater faunas of the Mississippi River. Current research projects include early life history studies of lotic fishes, the life history and conservation of spring cavefish, and diel movements of riverine fishes.
