Department of BiologyFaculty
My interests are in animal behavior and sensory biology. I have investigated questions ranging from the sensory basis of natural oriented movements, to the structure and function of relevant sense organs. Most of my work has involved invertebrates, particularly molluscs. Current projects include analysis of scallop eye structure and optics, a comparative evaluation of vision in gastropods, study of the association of pigment granule size to cell function, and analysis of propulsive adjustments in swimming and flying animals. I am also involved with a school outreach program using our Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) facility. COURSES TAUGHT: Introductory Biology Seminar; Biology for General Education; Marine Biology; Invertebrate Zoology; Evolution BOOKLET: Evolution and Religion: Finding Your Way SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (SEM): Programs for Schools, Sea Urchin Workshops |
