Nilu Runge, Ph.D. I have conducted research in the following areas: phospholipid alterations and membrane function; alterations in the fatty acids of phospholipids in the blood of Reye's Syndrome patients and the liver mitochondria in a Reye's Syndrome mouse model; purification and characterization of a tumor marker protein (OFP) and the development of an ELISA-based blood test for this protein; analysis of nuclear RNA restriction in diabetic rats. While I am not presently research active, my current interests are in the areas of hormone stimulated signal transduction pathways and the search for specific inhibitors of leukotrienes, bioactive lipids that are associated with many important pathophysiological events.
