- Position Description:

The Department of Biology at the University of Central Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Neuroscience, with preference given to candidates working in neurophysiology. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and will begin on August 15, 2008. Applications are sought from outstanding individuals who value quality teaching and are dedicated to developing an active neuroscience research program involving both undergraduate and Master’s level students. The position offers a reduced teaching load initially, dedicated research space, start-up funding, and opportunities for internal as well as external grants. Teaching responsibilities will include contributions to our freshman and core curriculum along with opportunities to develop additional upper-division and graduate courses that will augment our current programs. The Department is building strength in the area of Environmental Science/Ecology. We are seeking candidates that demonstrate the strong potential to develop a field-based research program involving undergraduates and MS students. Our current faculty examine plants, fish, reptiles and birds with the common theme of conservation and response to human altered systems. The area of specialization for our new position is open, with preference given to candidates working at the community or landscape scale, and complimenting the areas of our current faculty. Ph.D. in an appropriate ecological discipline is required. ABD applicants are encouraged to apply.
