We will be happy to provide you with more information concerning these facilities and events: The Baum Gallery of Fine Art In addition to an outstanding permanent collection, this gallery regularly presents touring exhibitions and guest artist shows. Touring Concert Artists Thanks to the UCA Public Appearances, acclaimed concert artists frequently make the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall a stop on their tours. Snow Fine Arts Center The UCA Theatre and Music Departments often feature the musical and theatrical performances of students and visiting professionals at the Snow Fine Arts Center. HPER Center Continue your workouts through pre-arranged visits at the new UCA recreation center that includes 65,000 square feet of exercise space and equipment. The Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Center includes a fitness area equipped with free weights, Cybex selectorized equipment and a variety of cardiovascular machines; three basketball/volleyball courts; indoor rubberized running/walking track; locker rooms and exercise/aerobic classes. Also available is a heated indoor swimming pool. Torreyson Library This library is home to an annual series of guest writers and poets who present public readings and participate in book signings. Torreyson is a fully automated academic library offering approximately 1.5 million books and an extensive selection of academic journals. Torreyson holds over 6,000 U.S. Government titles and receives dozens of federal agency publications in electronic form. Small Business Advancement National Center (SBANC) Conceived by Dr. Don B. Bradley III, its executive director, SBANC is a multi-faceted counseling and electronic resource center for small businesses. The SBANC maintains the latest information on technological advances that affect and benefit small businesses. Geosystems Laboratory The Geosystems Laboratory features 20 individual workstations equipped with geographic and mapping software. UCA Observatory This observatory features an 11-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope as well as other telescopes and astronomical equipment. The observatory is open to the public on the third Saturday of every month (if skies are clear). UCA Planetarium This planetarium is a 60-seat facility that simulates the night time sky and is equipped for a variety of astronomy-related multi-media presentations. Public shows are held monthly Each show includes Whats Up in the Sky this Month" and "Recent News in Astronomy." Channel 6 - The University Television Studio offers a full service post-production facility utilizing state-of-the-art digital technology. Arrangements may be made for taping, editing, and duplicating recordings of special events. |
