Endowments

President Hardin

Ensuring access and opportunities for higher learning

Achieving our vision for UCA requires a strong sense of commitment by all.

The University of Central Arkansas is dedicated to establishing a strong endowment that will provide perpetual support for UCA students and faculty in the second century and beyond. We are asking alumni and friends to share our vision by making a long-term commitment.

An endowment is an investment in the future. Once a fund reaches endowment level, it is permanently established with the UCA Foundation. If you endow a fund, only the interest from your gift will be used to support an area of your choosing. Your gift will provide perpetual support to the university, its students and faculty.

Endowed Scholarships

Scholarships are the key that can unlock the door to higher learning for those who aspire to continue their education. It is perhaps the most important resource students will need in this next century.

Endowed scholarships may be established through the UCA Foundation to support students with a specific need or academic interest. Providing ongoing support for an array of students is critical for UCA’s next century.

Need-Based Scholarships

It is our responsibility to ensure access to higher education. No matter what economic barriers an individual may face, each UCA student should have the means to achieve his or her educational goals. Students who reach their potential at a university have promising futures resulting in positive economic and social impacts on the state and nation.

Endowing a need-based scholarship fund with the UCA Foundation is one of the most significant promises you can make to support UCA’s next century.

Athletic Scholarships

UCA student athletes excel in the classroom and on the playing field. Providing scholarships for these talented students will build on a tradition of excellence.

Endowing athletic scholarships at the NCAA maximum will allow UCA to support a greater number of student athletes.

Scholarships are also critical for student athletes who have completed their NCAA eligibility with adequate academic progress but still need time to finish their degree. Private scholarships are necessary to help retain student athletes and to give them the opportunity to fulfill their dreams of becoming a college graduate.

Sustaining UCA athletics through the establishment of endowed scholarships will assist our coaches in recruiting top student athletes, help students achieve their academic goals and carry on the tradition of Bear athletics well into UCA’s next century.

Faculty and Program Endowments

Expert faculty provide unique mentoring opportunities for students while enhancing the academic community. Faculty endowments will enable UCA to recruit and retain academic leaders in a competitive market.

Endowments for faculty can be established at three levels: lectureship, professorship and chair. These various levels of endowment provide salary supplements that help UCA compete for top-rated professors.

Endowments may also be established to support departmental needs that cannot be covered when budgets are stretched. Travel, conference fees and professional organization dues are necessary for faculty and students to gain and share knowledge, but state support is rarely sufficient for funding these needs. Funding is also limited for educational opportunities such as invited speakers, field trips and research.

Endowing a fund for faculty development or program support will provide the resources necessary for UCA professors to continue their scholarly endeavors and for students to excel in their fields of study.
