Dear friends,

As the University of Central Arkansas begins its second century, let me tell you what a privilege it is to serve as president of this fine institution. Like the seven presidents who served before me, my goal is to inspire our students to embrace higher learning and to challenge our faculty and staff to make this campus a place where bright young minds flourish. I also encourage our alumni and friends to remain a part of the UCA community by continuing their relationships with the institution.

The roots of this campus are deeply planted in education. The school's founders had a vision to make the state a better place by training teachers to educate Arkansas' youth. My predecessors had the foresight to grow this institution from a college into a comprehensive university focused on undergraduate education. Today, I am humbled to continue that tradition of visionary growth and excellence. The University of Central Arkansas is still the bedrock for teacher training, and has become one of the state's leading institutions of higher learning.

A centennial is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of those pioneers who set the institution's foundation. Let us use this opportunity to build on that tradition of excellence as we continue to make a difference for the students of today and tomorrow. Please join me in our first comprehensive campaign as we embrace a new vision for UCA's new century.
