Mission Statement and Brief History
The Central Arkansas Children's Choir is a community choir for treble singers in grades 3-high school. It is affiliated with the University of Central Arkansas Community School of Music. The intent of the choir is to promote musical literacy and performance by providing a challenging, high quality, choral experience for its members.
The CACC was established in August 1996 to provide a large group performance opportunity to children in the central Arkansas area. A grant from the UCA Foundation provided the initial funds to set up the organization. From its beginning the choir has enjoyed a tremendous amount of interest and support from the children, their families, the community, and the University.
Originally a non-auditioned choir, CACC expanded to two choirs in 1999 and began requiring auditions for membership. The Choristers Choir is open to students in grades 3-high school and has a less demanding performance schedule and less stringent rehearsals.
The Choristers Choir serves as a training choir for the Concert Choir, which is open to students in grades 5 through high school. Rehearsals for the Concert Choir are fast- paced, and more difficult music is studied. The Concert Choir is involved in a few more performances throughout the year.
