fiction (Empire Falls, Nobody's Fool, Straight Man),
will teach a creative writing class and provide a
public reading and book signing.
The Dizzy Gillespie Alumni Allstars, a quintet featuring
Randy Brecker, Clide Hampton, and John Lee will teach
a master class for music students April 25.

Hindu Dieties, a spell-binding collection of Indian
Basalt Stone Steles, bronze sculptures and brass devotional
statues, will be on exhibition in the
Baum Gallery of Fine Art.

Martha Ann Selby, noted scholar of Indian love poems
presents a workshop on translation and a public reading
from her anthology, Growing Long, Blessed Night. September

Akbar Hyder
October 2-3
Syed Akbar Hyder, Asian studies professor, provides
a master class on Bollywood Cinema as well as presents
a public showing of a Bollywood classic.
October 21-22
Anoushka Shankar, prodigiously talented sitar player
who follows in the footsteps of her father Ravi, performs
an evening of traditional Indian music in the Reynolds
Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. on October 21. Admission
is free and no tickets will be issued. The performance
is prior to a teaching day that includes a lecture/demonstration,
luncheon, public interview, and reception.
October 6-8
Bill Bolcom, Pulitzer Prize Winning composer, and
mezzo-soprano Joan Morris will perform their internationally-applauded
program of American songs prior to embarking on two
days of master classes, lectures, and workshops. The
residency culminates in a recital of Bolcom compositions
performed by UCA instrumental and vocal faculty.

Bruce Campbell, author of If Chins Could Kill: Confessions
of a B-Movie Actor, and acted in Serving Sara, The
Hudsucker Proxy and on Xena, Ellen, and The New Adventures
of Superman will do a public reading and visit writing
and film classes. Watch for his cameo appearance in
Spiderman.
November 20-22
Richard Stolzman, acclaimed clarinetist and recipient
of the Avey Fisher Prize and two Grammy awards, will
present clarinet master classes, jazz workshops, and
public lectures/discussions in a residency that culminates
his performance with the Conway Symphony.
