JasonKnox

Jason Knox is a sound designer who has worked on many prestigious theatre productions including Marisol, Amadeus, Metamorphoses, and Jesus Christ Superstar. Knox is the music composer and sound designer for UCA Theatre’s fall production Stop/Kiss, and will be instructing master classes in theatre sound design for UCA students.

Harry Cheney has worked as a Sound Editor for 26 years on diverse film projects such as "Childsplay" and "Bottle Rocket."  He was also part of the sound production team that won the Academy Award for Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula".  His extensive television credits include editing sound on everything from "Lou Grant" in the late '70's to current hits such as "Gilmore Girls" and "E.R."   Harry has written film criticism for numerous magazines. He will lead a discussion and present a workshop for UCA students.

Dave Eggers is the author of the critically acclaimed A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius as well as You Shall Know our Velocity.  In 2002, Eggers also founded 826 Valencia, a writing lab for young people in San Francisco. Eggers will give a public reading and work with UCA creative writing students.

Steven Doane has earned an international reputation as both a performer and a teacher of the cello.  He was formerly the principal cellist of the Milwaukee Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic, and is a member of the Cello Faculty at the Eastman School of Music.       Doane will perform with the Conway Symphony Orchestra and hold master classes with UCA music students.

Garry Wills is one of America’s most distinguished historians and critics.  He is the author of numerous books, including Saint Augustine, Papal Sin, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Lincoln at Gettysburg, and the just-released What Paul Meant .  Wills will give readings at at McCastlain Hall East on the UCA campus at 7:30 pm.

Neil Gaiman is the creator/writer for the award-winning DC Comics series Sandman, and the author of several novels including American Gods, Anansi Boys, Good Omens (with Terry Pratchett), and the recently released Fragile Things.  Gaiman will give readings and hold informal classes with UCA creative writing and Honors College students. His public appearance will be at Reynolds Performance Hall beginning at 7:30 pm.

Heid Grant Murphy

Heidi Grant Murphy has appeared with many of the world’s finest opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera, Salzburg Festival, Frankfurt Opera, and many Philharmonics of major cities all over the world.  An accomplished soprano, Murphy will perform at UCA and the Clinton Presidential Center.  She will also present a master class to UCA vocal students.   Click here for an audio sample of her work.   Contact UCA ticket central for ticketing information.

Bill Reichenbach and Michael Davis are highly acclaimed trombonists who have broad experience with both today’s top artists and legends in the music industry. Reichenbach’s eclectic résumé includes work with Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau, and Christina Aguilera.  He has contributed to film scores such as Munich, World Trade Center, and Superman Returns.  Michael Davis is a graduate of the prestigious Eastman School of Music, and has worked with The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Michael Jackson, to name a few. Both will perform with the UCA Jazz Ensemble and conduct a workshop for UCA music students.  Contact UCA Ticket Central for ticketing information.

Sharon Olds

Sharon Olds has published eight volumes of poetry, and is anthologized in over 100 other collections.  Olds teaches poetry workshops in the Graduate Creative Writing Program at New York University, and was the New York State Poet Laureate for 1998-2000.  She will read from her works and discuss poetry methods with UCA students.

Alexander Markov is an acclaimed violinist and Gold Medal winner at the Paganini International Violin Competition.  Markov has appeared with celebrated orchestras such as the Philadelphia and BBC Symphony.  His residency will include a recital with a piano, a performance with orchestra, a master class, and other opportunities for student interaction.
