Mass Communication and Theatre, Chair
THE POSITION: The Department of Mass Communication and Theatre at the University of Central Arkansas seeks applications for its department chair. The department offers programs to 350 majors in Journalism, Mass Communication, Theatre, and Digital Filmmaking (including an MFA program). The position's responsibilities call for visionary leadership, advanced administrative skills, and experience in teaching, planning, fundraising, and program advocacy. Candidates should hold a PhD, MFA, or have extensive professional experience in addition to a strong record of creative or academic performance for appointment as a tenured associate or full professor. THE UNIVERSITY: Recently recognized by US NEWS and WORLD REPORT as one of the best universities in the south, UCA enrolls over 11,000 students and has programs leading to undergraduate degrees in 66 areas of study, master’s degrees in 25, and several doctoral degrees. Speech Communication and Public Relations, Chair
THE POSITION: The Department of Speech Communication and Public Relations at the University of Central Arkansas seeks applications for a department chair to lead a growing program with 150 majors and a general education course required of all undergraduate students. This full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of associate or full professor requires a Ph.D. in communication, public relations, or a closely related field. The chair coordinates fiscal, personnel, and curricular matters; advocates departmental interests; and encourages scholarly and professional activity among the faculty. Applicants should be effective communicators with a strong record of scholarship and teaching and the ability to work well with students, faculty, and university administrators.
