The UCA Concert Choir is an auditioned choir of both music majors and non-majors. Each year the choir studies some of the worlds most beautiful and challenging repertoire to present in concerts for the school and community. In the past the choir has performed in various venues including the 2005 American Choral Directors Association national convention in Los Angeles, California and a 2004 international choral competition in Riva Del Garda, Italy, for which it was the only American choir selected to compete. In the past the choir has performed in venues all over Europe including Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany. In addition to performances around the world and local performances, the choir also regularly tours to high schools in Arkansas and other surrounding states.
The UCA Chamber Singers is a select group of singers from the Concert Choir who present the annual Madrigal Dinner during the Christmas season. The singers prepare during the fall semester for this event by learning early music of the Renaissance era to present to the guests at the annual dinner. During the spring semester the singers continue their study of madrigals and other early music and present a concert for the school and community.
The University Chorus is a non-auditioned choir for any students who have some past choral experience and who enjoy singing in a choral setting. Each fall semester the choir prepares a large choral work to be presented in a concert in the Reynolds Performance Hall. An instrumental ensemble made up of other students and faculty from the department usually accompanies these works. During the spring semester the choir prepares several smaller works to be presented in a concert for the school and community.
