Smokey Emerson joined the UCA Music Department in Fall 2005. Mr. Emerson received the Bachelor of Music Degree in 2000 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he studied classical guitar with Dr. Robert Chambers. In 2001, he began studies with Larry Hammett at Oklahoma University where he received the Master of Music Degree in Guitar Performance in 2003. In addition to teaching guitar courses, Emerson has instructed a variety of courses ranging from music theory to music literature. As a guitarist, Emerson has performed in a variety of musical settings ranging from classical to jazz and rock. Mr. Emerson has a thriving studio of over 50 guitar students.
