Dionysus Duo
Carolyn Brown, flute
Carl Anthony, piano |
| The Dionysus Duo has performed
throughout the United States to wide acclaim. Like their
namesake, the performances of the Dionysus Duo are always
exciting and technically dazzling. Each program consists
of a wide variety of music ranging from classical to
popular to avant-garde. Brown and Anthony’s playing
has been called “gorgeous” and “achingly
beautiful” by music critics. In 1994, the Arkansas
Times honored the duo by calling their Little Rock recital
“the year’s best chamber music performance.”
Brown and Anthony are music professors at the UCA and
both hold principal positions in the Arkansas Symphony
Orchestra. |

Arkansas. This five-member ensemble is comprised of

of jazz and blues, the quintet performances can include
the music of Bach, Marcello, and Gabrieli, as well as
familiar compositions by Gershwin, Ellington, and Brubeck.
The members of the quintet can also coordinate clinics

Sunaura Woodwind Trio
Carolyn Brown, flute
Lorraine Duso, oboe
Min-Ho Yeh, clarinet
|
| In existence for only
six years, the trio has established and maintained an
active performing schedule performing woodwind chamber
music from early masters such as Mozart and Haydn to
20th-century compositions. The group is proud to have
had several works written especially for them, particularly
“Nine Pieces for Woodwind Trio” by UCA theory
and composition faculty, Dr. Paul Dickinson. The trio
has already performed this challenging work at a number
of composition conferences throughout the region and
was invited to perform it at the International Double
Reed Society Conference in Austin, Texas, in June 2005.
The Sunaura Trio regularly performs in schools throughout
the state, presenting concerts and clinics for hundreds
of students each year. |
