Application Requirements
In addition to the Graduate School admission requirements, a satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and a satisfactory score on the UCA music theory entrance exam are required to be accepted into the theory or composition program.

MM in Music Theory Curriculum (34 hours total)
--Core degree requirements (9 hours)

  • Core degree requirements for all concentrations (9 hours):

    Music Theory (3)
    Music History (3)
    Music Research and Bibliography (3)

  • Diagnostic examinations to be given during the first week of graduate study in music theory and music history;
  • Completion of piano proficiency exam for the area of concentration.
