Bio? Hmmmmmm... Now, what would interest students?
Something like this, perhaps?
20+ years of professional experience before I went back
to school for a Ph.D. in Communication.
First job -- Editor of a base newspaper, US Air Force.
Other jobs --
For the US Army, editor of various publications, one of which earned an Army-wide "best in category" award.
Production manager, San Francisco adv/pr agency.
Director of PR for a major convention hotel.
Among my assignments: handle publicity for an appearance
by Frank Sinatra, Jr.; set up a photo shoot for Rock Hudson...
Advertising director, later marketing officer in Alabama banking. Graduate of Alabama Banking School.
(Auspices: U. of South Alabama and Alabama Bankers Assn)
Miscellaneous -- I have:
Taken a course in Russian media at St. Petersburg State University
in Russia
Seen the Statue of Liberty from the Staten Island ferry;
seen the Jefferson Memorial by moonlight.
Hiked through Diamond Head with the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club. (Yep. Through. Including the old WWII bunkers.)
Played the piano in my college dance band.
Sung in the chorus of Aida, Carmen Dragon, conductor.
(Honolulu Opera Guild production)
Taught an adult to read, as a literacy volunteer.
Written ads, press releases, speeches, newsletters, assorted scripts... Even a poem or two and a children's song for
Sunday School.
A copy of my Ph.D. dissertation is housed
in the regular collection at Auburn University library.
PN 4882.5 .C676 2000.
I have seen Joe Namath play football, Willie Mays play baseball, Wilt Chamberlain play basketball and Arthur Rubinstein
play piano.
Is this enough information? Or, should I mention that I was a country kid and I could ride a horse before I could ride a bike? (I still can't ride a bike very well!)
