Chemistry

Jerry Manion
Professor of Chemistry
Having been at UCA since 1965 I am now employed on a part-time basis. My current teaching assignments include Chemistry 1402 (Physiological Chemistry), Chemistry 2401 (Organic Chemistry I), and Chemistry 3211 (Organic Spectroscopy). I have a long standing interest in the development of investigative laboratory experiments for the sophomore organic course especially those that use spectroscopic methods of analysis. Paul Krause and I share an interest in developing an interest in science among elementary school students and have been presenting programs for students of this age for over 30 years. I serve as chair of the Premedical Advisory Committee. In that capacity I serve as advisor to students majoring in premed-chemistry, serve as a resource for premed students regarding the application and admission process, and prepare the official recommendations from UCA that are required by medical school admissions committees. I also maintain the Chemistry Department web site.
