The UCA Community School of Music announces a comprehensive week long program for violin, viola, cello, and double bass players at the early to intermediate levels of instruction and beyond. Students should have completed at least 6 months of private lessons or one year of orchestra before applying for camp. The camp is for pre-school through high school students.
Activities during the day include rehearsals, master classes on All-Region excerpts, a fiddle demonstration, a Jazz Improv workshop, fun games, and a talent show.
Night activities will include movie night, swim night, skate night and a visit to the planetarium.
The camp will end with an awesome concert at 11am Saturday, July 6. We have overnight accommodations for students from out of town that need on-campus housing and meals (deadline for on-campus housing has passed). Students may also commute daily and bring a sack lunch or lunch money.
Summer Strings Camp begins August 1st (check-in for on campus campers July 31st, 5-7pm), culminating with a concert at 11:00 am on August 6. Regular camp hours for commuters are 8:00 am until 5 pm; drop off will be at the front entrance of the SFAC building (circle drive area). On the first day, commuting students will check in between 7 and 8am, with the first session to be held in the Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall at 8:00 am; students will then be separated into groups and given a week long class schedule.
Commuter Tuition: $150 - payment received by July 8
$175 - (includes a late fee of $25) payment between July 9-29
**NOTE: To keep costs down, if commuting, please provide your child a lunch each day; snacks will be provided - fruits, crackers, peanut butter and jelly, etc.
On Campus Tuition: $310 - payment received by July 8.
$335 (includes a late fee of $25) - payment between July 9-15
Students staying on campus check in between 5 and 7pm, July 31. Check out by 9am, Aug. 6. Housing will be in New Hall. Meals will be served at Christian Cafeteria, just across from the SFAC.
A free Camp T-shirt is provided for campers who register by July 21. Students who register after that may receive a t-shirt for $7. Mark your size on the registration application.
Cancellations made prior to July 16 will be refunded in the amount of the tuition paid, minus the registration fee of $20 (included in the tuition cost).

Fourth Annual 2011 Rock Camp: June 27-July 1
Rock Camp is an intense 5-day camp packed with workshops, jam sessions and performances to foster musical growth for aspiring rock musicians. Open to guitarists, bassists, singers and drummers, ages 12-18. At least one year of experience is recommended. In addition to daily concerts, workshops and group activities, students will be placed in bands according to their experience and musical tastes. Camp meets 9 a.m. - 12 noon daily, with a big, loud, rockin' concert at a time TBA.
