| The mission of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is to provide innovative and technologically superior instruction, research and service through scientifically based programs. Areas of preparation include nutrition/dietetics, interior design and Family and Consumer Sciences education which enhance individual wellness and quality of life in an ethical and socially responsible manner. Additionally, the mission of the Department is to serve the public through preparation of professionals for careers in health care, business, education, industry, government, community agencies, and other organizations. |

Eighty percent of employers of graduates of the dietetic program responding to a survey one year after employing the graduate will "agree" or "strongly agree" with the statement that the employee was well prepared for his/her position. 1c. Ninety percent of dietetic graduates will earn a grade of "B" or better on the showcase portfolio presented to a faculty committee during the final semester of enrollment in the baccalaureate degree program. |
| 2. Students completing the baccalaureate program in dietetics will possess the necessary knowledge and skills for success in dietetic internships. | 2a. Eighty percent of graduates entering the dietetic internship and responding to the FACS dietetic graduate survey will either "agree" or "strongly agree" that they were well prepared for the dietetic internship program. 2b. Eighty percent of undergraduates completing the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) that are accepted into an internship will successfully pass the American Dietetic Association exam to become a registered dietitian. |

Ninety percent of the Family and Consumer Sciences in Education graduates will meet or exceed the minimum score for teacher certification on the professional knowledge section (score > 642) and the FACS specialty section (score > 520) on the National Teacher Examination. 2b. Ninety percent of FACS Education graduates will receive an Arkansas secondary teaching certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. 2c. Ninety percent of graduates will earn a grade of "B" or better on the showcase portfolio presented to a faculty committee during the final semester of enrollment in the BSE degree program. 2d. Seventy percent of FACS Education graduates will receive an overall job performance rating of either "Outstanding" or "Excellent" from an employer survey one year after graduation (i.e., a rating of either 4 or 5 on a 5-point scale). 2e. Seventy percent of FACS Education graduates will receive a rating of "Outstanding" or "Excellent" on content knowledge from an employer survey one year after graduation. 2f. Seventy percent of FACS Education graduates will receive a rating of "Outstanding" or "Excellent" on pedagogical behaviors from an employer survey one year after graduation. |

Graduates selecting the thesis option will complete the master's thesis and present to the departmental graduate committee and dean of the graduate school. |
