Statement of Program Purpose

Mission

The mission of the International MBA is to provide high-quality education for aspiring business leaders and to serve the business community. The vision of the International MBA is to provide a distinctive, high-quality MBA program.

  • The International MBA provides a distinctive, high-quality MBA program as a service to the business community and in furtherance of the University mission of offering graduate education in selected areas of particular strength.
  • The International MBA especially values applied research and instructional development which provide support for the scholarship of teaching and enhance the professional development of faculty and staff.
  • The International MBA program encour­ages continuous improvement and innovation in curriculum, teaching, and intellectual contributions.
  • The International MBA provides professional service to the University and international community to support its teaching and intellectual contribution objectives.
  • The International MBA provides educational opportunities to international students to further its commitment to globalization and support for the University's objectives in international education.
  • The International MBA prepares its students for careers and leadership in a global, knowledge-based economy.

Goal

The International MBA will provide interested students with a high quality degree in international business enabling them to find employment in the global business world.

Intended Outcomes/Objectives Assessment Procedures and Criteria
1.Students completing the International MBA program will compare favorably with those students completing this program at the other participating consortium universities.

1a. Graduating students will have an exit interview with international business leaders and international faculty for final assessment and validation of their program of study.

1b. The graduates will also complete an exit examination prepared by all consortium schools, which they must pass.

Note: In consultation with its consortium partners, the program will, by June 2000, determine criteria for successfully completing the exit interview and "passing" the exit examination.

1c. Eighty percent of the respondents to a survey of International MBA graduates one year after graduation will "agree" or "strongly agree" with the statement: "In the field of international business, I feel as well prepared as the majority of other individuals having earned a degree at another consortium university during the past year."

2. International MBA graduates will find ready employment in the field of international business.

2a. Eighty percent of the respondents to the International MBA graduate survey will report having received a job offer within four months of graduation

2b. Eighty percent of respondents to the International MBA graduate survey will indicate that they are currently employed or have accepted a job offer.

2c. Eighty percent of the respondents to the International MBA graduate survey will indicate that they are employed in positions "directly related" to their career choices.

3. Students completing the International MBA will be well prepared for their first management position and to assume leadership roles.

3a. Eighty percent of the respondents to the International MBA graduate survey will "agree" or "strongly agree" with the statement: "I am well prepared for my first position."

3b. Eighty percent of the employers of International MBA graduates responding to a survey, one year after employing the graduates will "agree" or "strongly agree" with the statement: "Employee's academic program prepared him/her well for his/her position."

3c. Fifty percent of the respondents to the International MBA graduate survey will "agree" or "strongly agree" with the statement: "I am in a leadership role within my organization."
