Currently CLEP exams are administered at UCA on Tuesdays at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. When registering, please specify which time slot you desire. The cost for each exam is $65.00, plus a $15.00 non-refundable administration fee. Please write one check made payable to CLEP for $65.00 and another check made payable to UCA for $15.00. You may pay for the $65.00 test fee with a credit card. You may register for up to two exams per test date. CLEP exams are administered in Bernard Hall; report to Bernard 205. Please bring the admission ticket and a photo ID to the exam on test day. You will not be permitted to take the exam without these items.
The Division of Undergraduate Studies is responsible for awarding course credit on the basis of CLEP at UCA. Before you take a CLEP test, please refer to the CLEP section in the current UCA Undergraduate Bulletin.
UCA permits a student to take CLEP exams to earn college credit for a maximum of 30 hours of general education courses. CLEP credit may be awarded to those students who have met the minimum score requirement set by the university, have not already satisfied the general education requirement, and have not enrolled in the course. When a student has satisfactorily completed the exam and earned 12 hours in residence at UCA, credit will be recorded and designated CLEP on the student's permanent record.
To earn credit in writing (composition), the exam must be taken before enrollment in college. Other exams must be taken before the end of the semester in which a student is enrolled for the 75th hour. If a student does not achieve a passing score, he/she must wait 6 months to re-take that particular exam.
Please note that each college and university has specific policies regarding CLEP credit. These policies are not the same for each school. Before taking the exam, please verify your chosen school's policies concerning CLEP credit and score requirements.
The University Testing Office is responsible for test registration and administration only. If you have a question about scoring procedures or additional score reports, please contact CLEP directly. You may obtain more information by visiting CLEP's website: www.collegeboard.org/clep.
