ENTRY LEVEL ADMISSION CRITERIA

Entry to the program is by application and competitive admission only. Applications to the program
become available by November and are due in the program office no later than February 1 for consideration for
entry the next (summer) semester. All applications are reviewed by the Occupational Therapy Admissions Committee. Admission criteria may include: cumulative grade point average, volunteer/observation experience, personal interview, Arkansas residency, and essay. All applicants must have a minimum 2.75 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale). The volunteer/observation experience is required for all program applicants. This experience must be for  20 hours and must be completed in one occupational therapy setting (i.e., hospital, clinic, school, home health, private practice, etc.) under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist (OTR). It is the responsibility of the applicant to make arrangements with an occupational therapist for this experience. The applicant is also responsible for obtaining the Volunteer/Observation Evaluation Form from the occupational therapy department and giving it to the supervising therapist. We strongly recommend completing this requirement one semester prior to application so that all materials will be received before the application deadline of February 1.

For specific information regarding admission criteria and the admission process, students must
schedule an appointment with the occupational therapy program advisor, Charlotte Wekkin.
