Notice: The following criteria and weighting will be used for selecting the Occupational Therapy class entering May 2006.

Grade Point - 40%
Grade points are calculated based on prerequisites for the occupational therapy program and include: Total GPA, Behavioral Science GPA, and Science GPA.  These three items are calculated together for a total score that is used to rank all applicants.  The GPA ranking will be used to determine the applicant pool for admission/interviews.  A maximum of 70 students will be interviewed.

Interviews - 30%
Each candidate will be interviewed by a team of faculty and practitioners using a predetermined interview format.  Interviews will last approximately 20 minutes.  Interview questions will be reviewed by faculty yearly prior to conducting the interview.  No more than eight questions will be asked during the interview.

Essay - 20%
The essay portion of the application process will be conducted on the day of the scheduled interview.  Applicants will be given 1.5 hours to complete the essay after the interview.

Volunteer/Observation Experience - 10%
Students applying into the occupational therapy program will be expected to complete 20 hours as a volunteer in one setting with an occupational therapist.  The therapist will complete the volunteer evaluation form and will mail the completed form to the UCA Department of Occupational Therapy.

A total admission score will be calculated based on this criteria and students will then be ranked.  The top 48 students will be accepted into the program with an alternate list consisting of those who ranked 49-59.
