College of Health and Behavioral SciencesA Message from the Dean
Welcome to our Website. I hope you will take the time to review the home pages of our departments. Here you will find the names and E-mail addresses of faculty who can answer your specific questions. For more than three decades the University of Central Arkansas has been preparing practitioners, educators, and researchers in a broad range of health-related professions. The College awards more undergraduate and graduate degrees in the health and behavioral sciences than any other four year institution in Arkansas. Advanced study opportunities for experienced professionals are provided through graduate degree programs at the masters and doctoral levels, and continuing education workshops and seminars. The importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, adherence to the highest standards of ethical practice, and life-long learning are emphasized. The achievement of a culturally bias free learning environment that honors diversity is central to all of our programs. Faculty in the College are regarded by students as caring and concerned for their personal and professional development. Several have been recognized nationally for their expertise and leadership. Our faculty continuously evaluate the practice environment to ensure that graduates enter the profession with contemporary knowledge and skills. Many students enroll at UCA to prepare for a career in health care, but are unclear about the specific field they will enter. Because of the wide range of programs we offer, UCA is an ideal choice. Our advisors help students gain a clear understanding of the challenges and rewards associated with each field so that they can make an informed decision and if necessary, experience an easy transition to another area of study. We seek students who have a strong willingness to learn, and a commitment to make a difference in the lives of others. If you have these qualities, I encourage you to call 800.243.8245 to visit with counselors in the UCA Office of Admissions, or contact departmental representatives. Neil W. Hattlestad, Ed.D. |
