What is ASID? |
The American Society of Interior designers (ASID) is the oldest and largest professional organization for interior designers. ASID was established in 1975 resulting from a merger of two interior design associations formed in 1931. With more than 30,500 members, ASID establishes a common identity for professionals and businesses in the field of interior design. Most ASID design consultants specify the products and services used in their design work, and more than 70 percent of ASID professional designers own or manage their own design firms.
|
Why choose ASID? |
ASID's commitment to education is long standing. In the 1970's, ASID established the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER), now an independent agency, which accredits interior design programs at more than 200 colleges and universities. Students receive valuable professional and leadership training skills through their ASID membership. Members of the Student Advisory Council give advice on programs such as the ASID Student Gathering, the ASID Job Fair, and many more. Also, the quarterly student newsletter, ACCESS, keeps students informed about issues related to the interior design profession.

Our chapter is a non-profit, unincorporated membership association, organized and existing under authorization granted by the American Society of Interior Designers, since 1994. We strive to provide opportunities for chapter officers and members to attend as many trips, conferences, and functions as possible. These are greatly funded by our local chapter fundraising efforts.

MALLORY~NEELY HOUSE
Memphis Tennessee
Built circa 1852, this 25-room Italian villa-style
mansion was home to the Isaac Kirtland, Benjamin Babb, James C. Neely,
Daniel Grant, and Barton Lee Mallory families between 1852 and
1969. Extensively renovated during the 1880s and 1890s. It
contains original furnishings and carefully~preserved decorative
treatments which illustrate the Victorians' love of lavish interior
decor. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1972,
it became a museum in 1973.
