2008-2009 Leadership Initiative

Year 2 Graduate Fellowships

The University of Central Arkansas, College of Education will offer Graduate Fellowships for the second year beginning fall 2008 to outstanding educators. The College of Education Leadership Initiative is a special collaborative offered to targeted school districts to assist them in developing effective leadership potential in their districts. College of Education Graduate Fellowships are available for currently employed educators who are new (students who have not received a graduate fellowship) graduate students seeking Master's degrees or graduate level licensure in School Leadership, Management, and Administration (6 graduate credit hours), School Counseling (9 graduate credit hours), and Curriculum and Instruction programs (6 graduate credit hours). Fellowships are valid for one academic year - fall through summer.

Candidates may only participate in one incentive program (e.g., Presidential Fellowship) at a time. Candidate who received the graduate fellowship for 2007-2008 will not be eligible for the fellowship for a second year. There will be a limited number of fellowships so students are encouraged to apply early. Geographic location of student will be considered when granting fellowships. School districts are welcome to nominate leadership candidates, or candidates may nominate themselves for consideration.

To receive the Graduate Fellowship you must complete the process below and be accepted to Graduate School.

1. Complete the College of Education Information Form.

2. Send the College of Education Information Form to the appropriate Contact Person listed above.

3. File an application with the UCA Graduate School. Download the form from :

http://www.uca.edu/divisions/academic/graduate/

Look under "Information for Prospective Students" followed by "Application to Graduate

School." You will need to print the form. Complete the application and mail to:

Be sure to apply for Graduate School admission and enclose a check for $25.00 made payable to UCA. you may call to pay be credit card.

4. Your completed Graduate School application needs to include:

a. Official copies of all of your college and university transcript. However, if you completed all of your university courses and graduated from UCA, you do not need to send transcripts.

b. Official copies of your Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores; please look at the information found on the Graduate School web page.

c. A copy of your valid teaching license.

5. If you need to take the GRE, go to http://www.GRE.org or call Prometric Candidate Services (http://www.prometric.com) in Little Rock at 1.800.853.6773. Please note that Little Rock may not be your closest location for taking the GRE. Only the General Test section of the GRE must be taken. It takes at least two weeks for the official scores to be received.
