Our Mission Statement and Goals

The College of Education at the University of Central Arkansas is dedicated to providing exemplary programs for the preparation of professional personnel in the fields of education, library media, informational technologies, and other related professional fields. With an emphasis on teaching, research, and service, the members of the College of Education, along with their counterparts in supporting programs across campus, demonstrate a commitment to the improvement of human service delivery systems by collaboratively working with organizations that have teaching, training, and human development as their mission. The professional education programs in the College prepare professionals as reflective decision-makers who demonstrate the content, pedagogical, and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to help all students learn.

To accomplish this mission, the College of Education:

  • Provides programs of study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels based upon sound pedagogical and clinical practices.
  • Employs a faculty who demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Maintains optimal resources and facilities such as the Technology Learning Center, partner schools, multimedia classrooms, research laboratories, and the Child Study Center to allow each program to meet its expected outcomes.
  • Establishes a professional environment conducive to both student and faculty growth and development.
  • Maintains a commitment to understanding and working with children and adults in multicultural settings and to expanding global perspectives.

The College is housed in Mashburn Hall on the University of Central Arkansas campus, and the Child Study Center is adjacent to the university campus. The College comprises three academic departments and two support units:
