Admission Level II Admission/Exit Requirements Level II of the teacher education program is Internship II. Level II of the teacher education program has an admission and exit point where the candidate's ability to demonstrate competency in the established performance criteria is assessed. The Level II admission is not a single assessment point but is conducted over the period of time the candidate is enrolled in Internship I. When a candidate is applying for entrance into Level II, the candidate's mentor/advisor will notify the Director of Field Experience that the candidate is eligible for placement in Level II of the teacher education program and will verify the remaining courses to complete prior to entrance into Internship II. This notification will occur upon the candidate's enrollment in Internship I. At this time the mentor/advisor is verifying that the candidate meets the minimum coursework and GPA requirements for Level II and any remaining deficiencies. During the semester the candidate is enrolled in Internship I, the mentor/academic department will further assess the candidate's readiness to enter Level II. This will be determined through examination of the candidate's portfolio and other information as determined by the academic department. Candidates will be responsible for completion of the Praxis II content area examinations prior to final recommendation by the mentor/academic department. Candidate readiness for Level II (determined by the academic department and the mentor/advisor) of the teacher education program will be based upon the following criteria: Level II Admission
The academic department and the mentor/advisor will be responsible for making the final recommendation for entrance into Level II.
Academic departments will be responsible for the final portfolio review. The candidate will not receive a passing grade in Internship II without successful completion of the portfolio. Candidates will be required to provide the academic department a copy of the Praxis II content category information prior to the completion of Internship II. The Office of Candidate Services and Field Experience will calculate the candidate's cumulative GPA prior to the recommendation for initial licensure eligibility. Candidates must pass all assessments listed above to complete the teacher education program. Recommendations for Arkansas licensure will not be made unless all assessments listed above are successfully completed and a clear Arkansas State Police and FBI background check is verified.
