GRADUATE COUNCIL MINUTES

      March 20, 2003

 

The Graduate Council met in regular session on March 20, 2003, in BBA 220 with the following members present:  K. Atkinson, S. Butcher, E. Fox, D. Jones, D. Kim, J. Lamar, J. Lammers, K. Larson, J. Murphy, J. Showell, G. Thurman, S. Vanderslice, S. Brezee, and D. Prewett.  Absent: J. Arn, P. Hamilton, B. Melchior, A. Picou, S. Stroman, D. Whistler, and J. Kennedy.  Also in attendance were Terry James and Ira Saltz. Rebecca Lancaster and Jack Klotz were present to answer questions for the Nursing and Educational Leadership areas to be considered by the Graduate Council.

 

David Prewett was introduced as the student replacement for Brandon Kearney. David is majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences.

Require MSTS 6322, Research Studies to replace EMLS 6350, Introduction to Instructional Technology as a requirement for the Master of Science degree in Training Systems.

Add the School Leadership title in the Graduate Bulletin as an umbrella title for the MS degree program in School Leadership, Management and Administration (SLMA) and the Ed.S. degree program in Educational Leadership (EDLP).

Recommendation was unanimously approved.

Dr. McNiece reminded the Council that starting in the fall semester 2003, the GRE and the GMAT will be required for full admission to Graduate School and the programs.  A student may still be admitted without the GRE but will not be eligible for any type financial aid including the graduate assistantship.

 

The next Council meeting will be April 17, no meeting in May.  There will be summer meeting June 19 if needed.
