Dr. Joseph Green

Joe Green has lived in Latin America for twelve years and is an “aficionado” of that region’s culture and history.  During the 1970s, he resided for seven years in Guatemala City, and from 2001 to 2006 he lived Mexico City and Guadalajara.  His dissertation, which is currently being revised for a forthcoming book manuscript, is an in-depth regional study of Guadalajara and the state of Jalisco during the Mexican Revolution.  Other research interests and future publications include the role of muckrakers in late 19th century Mexico, a phenomenon that developed in response to the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz.

Dr. Green studied at Florida State University (B.A., 1992), the University of Alabama, Huntsville (M.A., 1998), and the University of California, Riverside (Ph.D., 2006).  Before his lengthy tenure as a professional student, Joe Green also spent nearly four years in the Navy (1984-88) as an aviation electronics technician aboard the U.S.S. Midway (also known as the U.S.S. “Neverdock”).  During that time, he traveled to Japan, the Philippines, Australia, Kenya, Hong Kong and several other places in the Pacific rim and Indian Ocean. His interest in world history grew significantly with these travels.
