Lorien Foote received her BA from the University of Kansas and her
PhD from the University of Oklahoma. She is an OU fan during football
season and a Kansas fan when it's time for basketball. She teaches
the Civil War/Reconstruction, 19th Century America, and American Military
History, as well as the U.S. History surveys. She is the author of
a book, Seeking the One Great Remedy: Francis George Shaw and Nineteenth-Century
Reform, and several articles. She is currently researching discipline in
the Union Army during the Civil War. She was voted the Faculty Associate
of the Year in 2001 by the students of Hughes. At UCA she teaches American Nation I and II, The Civil
War and Reconstruction, and the Early National Period.
