Sondra Gordy, Assistant Professor, works with pre-service teachers of Social Studies. She is reponsible for the methods and techniques course entitled "Teaching Social Studies" which B.S.E. candidates take as part of their program. Additionally she supervises student teachers in their directed teaching experiences at various high schools, junior highs, and middle schools in the area. She acts as academic advisor to most of the B.S.E. History candidates and also teaches the World History survey course.
Dr. Gordy has had a long association with UCA, earning both her BSE and MSE there. She has recently completed the Ed.D. in Higher Education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock; her qualitative research was in the areas of education, desegregation, and civil rights.
Dr. Gordy received the University Teaching Excellence Award in 1992.
