Dr. Readnour, professor and former chair of the Department, is a specialist in Southern and recent American history with an emphasis on political, administrative, and diplomatic history during the Gilded Age and the Progressive Era. He is especially interested in post-Reconstruction Southern politics and public administration and has published studies of both Arkansas and Virginia governors.
He teaches "The South to 1865," "The South since 1865," "The Emergence of Modern America," "Diplomatic History of the United States," "Studies in American Comes of Age, 1877-1920," and two graduate "Selected Topics" courses on the Vietnam War and on American Presidential elections.
Dr. Readnour has been a long-time advisor of Phi Alpha Theta and presently serves as co-advisor of the local chapter.
