Dr. Phillip Bailey, Professor of French and Chair, has taught at the University of Central Arkansas since 1993. After completing his Bachelor's degree (1985) in French and Humanities at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, he received his Master's degree (1987) and Doctorate (1993) in French from the University of Virginia. He has written articles in French literature and second language acquisition and his monograph--Proust's Self-Reader: The Pursuit of Literature as Privileged Communication was published by Summa Publications in 1997. His research interests include Nineteenth and Twentieth-Century French Literature, Francophone literature and the study of foreign language anxiety, learning styles, and other predictors of second language learning. He is a member of the Conway Morning Rotary Club.
