Dr. Marian Brodman received her B.A. degree in French from Rosemont College, Rosemont, Pennsylvania (1967) and an M.A. (1969) and Ph.D. (1977) from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She served as Assistant Professor of French at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania before moving to Arkansas. She was an instructor in French and Latin at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock before joining the faculty of the University of Central Arkansas in 1986. She served as Chair of the Department of World Languages from 1986 to 1999. She is currently Associate Professor of French. Dr. Brodman also teaches Latin.
Dr. Brodman served as President of the Arkansas Foreign Language Teachers Association (1991-l993), AATF (Arkansas Chapter) Awards Committee Chair (1990-1995), and is serving as Assistant Program Chair of the Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages annual meeting in Columbus, Ohio (April, 1997) and is a current CSC Board member. She is the past recipient of two NEH grants and also obtained certification as an ACTFL oral proficiency tester (1986). Dr. Brodman has made numerous presentations at local and regional conferences. Her research interests include foreign language pedagogy, narratology, and medieval French romance for which she published articles in Neophilologische mitteilungen and Quodam et futurus (now entitled Arthuriana)..
