Patricia Hamilton Carlin completed her M.A. in Spanish at the University of California at Davis in 1990, and taught there as a Lecturer through 1992. Previously, she had completed a Master of Secondary Education with specialization in Foreign Languages at the University of Arkansas and had acquired thirteen years of language teaching experience at all levels, pre-school through college, in Arkansas and Texas. Her secondary programs in Arkansas received national and regional recognition.
While in California, Mrs. Carlin co-authored the testing program for ˇDímelo tú!, a college text. Most recently, she co-authored ˇDime! UNO and ˇDime! DOS, the first two books of the D.D. Heath/McDougal Littell school series.
Currently, Mrs. Carlin teaches courses in Spanish and methodology and also supervises student teachers of Spanish and French. She has a special interest in foreign language instruction in the elementary school, as evidenced by her recent participation in a K-6 methodology institute conducted by the National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center in Ames, Iowa. In addition, Mrs. Carlin is a frequent presenter at local and regional conferences devoted to the teaching of world languages.
