Jaime Zambrano joined the University of Central Arkansas in 1991, after teaching at the  University of Missouri and Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Spanish.  He completed his undergraduate work at the Universidad de Colombia where he received his Bachelor's degree (1980).  He received his Master's degree(1986) in Spanish Literature and his Doctorate (1993) in Romance Languages from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  His main field of interest is Contemporary Spanish-American Literature.  His book, La violencia en Colombia: la ficción de Álvarez Gardeazábal y el discurso histórco, was published by Peter Lang Publishing, Inc. in 1997. The book underlines the uniqueness of the period known as "La Violencia" in Colombia through an examination of the history and the works of Álvarez Gardeazábal. This study is a reflection on the ambiguity and pluralistic representation of the period.  Also, he published " La Nueva Narrativa de Gustavo Alvarez Gardeazabal", in Hispamerica Revista de Literatura, vol.XXVI, nos. 76/77 (April-August 1997).
