Minutes Undergraduate Council Meeting

February 15, 2005

Members Present:

Joe Anderson, George Bratton, Lynn Burley, Mary Harlan, Charles Harvey, Joe Horton, Kevin Kendrick, Mike Scoles, Conrad Stanitski, Ann Witcher, Jeff Whittingham, Valerie Williams, and Steve Zeltmann.

Members Absent:

Michelle Bridges, Lorien Foote, Richard Gaughan, Jennifer Johnson, Bill Kordsmeier, Elizabeth Smith, and Tony Sitz

The items of the agenda included:

1.    Meeting was called to order by Dr. Sally A. Roden, Chair.

2.    Minutes of the January 25, 2005 meeting were approved as circulated.

3.    Report of Subcommittee II – Joe Horton, Chair.

Dr. Horton moved to recommend approval of early guaranteed admission to the graduate Speech-Language Pathology Program. Dr. Zeltmann seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Dr. Horton moved to recommend approval of changing SPTH 4115 – Clinical Practicum I and SPTH 4220 – Diagnosis and Planning from elective to required courses. Dr. Harvey seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Dr. Horton moved to recommend approval of a new track in Personal Financial Planning with minor editorial changes. Dr. Harlan seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Dr. Horton moved to recommend approval of ACCT 4305 – Estate Planning. Dr. Harvey seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Dr. Horton moved to recommend approval to add MATH 1390 as a prerequisite to the following courses:

ACCT 2310 – Principles of Accounting I
ECON 2320 – Principles of Macroeconomics
ECON 2321 – Principles of Microeconomics

Dr. Harvey seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Dr. Horton moved to recommend approval of MGTM 3305 – Social Issues in Management with editorial changes. Dr. Burley seconded the motion. Discussion followed. Dr. Stanitski moved to table the proposal. Dr. Scoles seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Dr. Horton moved to recommend approval of MKTG 3360 – Fundamentals of Strategic Selling with editorial changes. Dr. Zeltmann seconded the motion. Discussion followed. Dr. Stanitski moved to table the proposal. Dr. Bratton seconded the motion. Motion passed 11 yes, 1 no, 0 abstentions.

The information item included:

1.    Change SPTH 4304 – Public School Methods from a required course to an elective.
