Minutes Undergraduate Council Meeting
Members Present:
Tammy Benson, John Choinski, Art Gillaspy, Mary Harlan,
Charles Harvey, David Harvey, Debbie Howell, Dawn Jakubowski, Jennifer Johnson,
Rahul Mehta, Mohamed Nour, Elizabeth Smith, Conrad Stanitski, and Tony Sitz

Nelle Bedner, Joe Cangelosi, Joe Horton, Christopher

Meeting was called to order by Dr. Sally A. Roden, Chair.
2.
Minutes of the September 17, 2002 meeting were approved with the following
corrections:
To show correct spelling for Rahul Mehta under members present and
to add Rahul Mehta to announcement of new council members.
3. Chair Roden
introduced Mary Harlan as a new member of the Undergraduate
Council
replacing Marc Willey.
4. Chair Roden informed
the council that the meeting time was during X-Period at 1:40 p.m.,
and
encouraged all members to be on time
to conduct the business of the Undergraduate Council.
The action items included:
1.
Report of Subcommittee III
Dr. Jennifer Johnson, Chair of
Subcommittee III made the following recommendations.
Dr. Johnson moved to recommend
approval of a change in course numbering from ECSE
3400Early Development and Learning
Theories to ECSE 3301 with the submission of a
course syllabi.
Dr. David Harvey seconded the motion.
Discussion followed. Motion passed
unanimously.
Dr. Johnson moved to recommend
approval of a change in course numbering from ECSE 4219
Guidance and Behavior Management
Strategies to ECSE 4319 with the submission of a course
syllabi.
Dr. Harlan seconded the motion. Motion
passed unanimously.
Dr. Johnson moved to recommend
approval of a change in course numbering from ECSE 4400
Integrated Curriculum, Planning and
Assessment to ECSE 46XX with the submission of a
course syllabi.
Dr. David Harvey seconded the motion.
Discussion followed. This
will increase
total hours in the program from 124
to 126 hours plus EDUC 1220 Education Technology if
needed.
Motion passed 10 yes, 0 no, 2 abstentions.
Dr. Johnson moved to recommend
approval of a change in course numbering from CHEM 3111
Organic Spectroscopy to CHEM
3211. Dr. Mehta seconded the motion.
This will increase
the hour requirements for the
chemistry degree from 36 to 37 for the non-ACS certified degree,
and from 42 to 43 for the ACS-certified
degree. Motion passed unanimously.
Dr. Johnson moved to recommend
approval of the expansion of 7-12 licensure for
Business/Marketing Technology to
include 4-8 licensure. Dr. Harlan
seconded the motion.
Discussion followed.
The change is being made to meet new requirements of the Licensure
Division of the Department of Higher
Education for the 4-8 licensure. Motion
passed
unanimously.
