approved. Discussion included that the case for a need for a minor in
Linguistics was well documented, the resources for the minor already
exist, and all departments with potential courses support the
proposal. Gaylon Ross clarified this is a 24 credit hour minor even
though the sample curriculum reflects 27 credit hours. M/S/Passed
unanimously (Barile/Horton).
Recommendation 2: That the new course proposal, WRTG 4340 be
approved. Discussion followed with David Harvey noting that the course
emphasis is teaching creative writing and the primary audience is the
student planning to go to graduate school and possibly teaching
writing on the college level. He added that teacher education
candidates might also be able to add the course as an elective to
enhance their ability to teach creative writing in the public schools.
M/S/Passed unanimously (Barile/Seifert).
4. Report of Subcommittee II (Joe Horton, Subcommittee Member).
Recommendation 1: That the College of Business Administration’s

with Dr. Horton reporting that the subcommittee had requested and
received revisions in the original Proposal for Curriculum Change.
Specifically, those changes included clarification that the
requirements are designed for business majors only, clarification of
the probationary semester, and clarification of grade requirements for
transfer courses and credit earned at any 2-year institution. The
revised Proposal was distributed to Council members. M/S/Passed
unanimously (Horton/Seifert).

and the elective for Physical Science Minor change from PHYS 1401 to
