Minutes Undergraduate Council Meeting
November 18, 2003 

Members Present:

Nelle Bedner, Tammy Benson, Nealon DeVore, Richard Gaughan, Mary Harlan, Charles Harvey, David Harvey, Joe Horton, Dawn Jakubowski, Rahul Mehta, Elizabeth Smith, Curtis Wilder, Misty Williams, and Ann Witcher 

Members Absent:

Joe Cangelosi, John Choinski, Jennifer Johnson, and Tony Sitz. 

The items of the agenda included: 

1.     Meeting was called to order by Dr. Mary Harlan, Interim Chair. 

2.     Chair Harlan introduced the new students to the Undergraduate Council.

                                Misty Willliams, Gamma Beta Phi 

            3.     Minutes of the September 16, 2003 meeting were approved with the following corrections:

                    ·    Middle/Secondary Education and Instructional Technologies:  add ENGL 2380 – Introduction to Poetry as an option                            to ENGL 2370 – Introduction to Fiction.

                    ·     Change the word “a” to “add” to reflect; and “add” new course MSIT 3320 – Introduction to Teaching at the Middle                             Level.

                    The Minutes of October 21, 2003 were also approved as circulated. 

            4.     Report of Subcommittee I – Dr. Charles Harvey, Interim Chair. 

Dr. Charles Harvey moved to approve, with editorial changes, the course level change for MGMT 2300 – Fundamentals of         Entrepreneurship to MGTM 3310 – Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship.  Dr. Horton seconded the motion.  Discussion           followed.  Motion passed unanimously. 

Dr. Harvey moved to approve the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Theatre degree contingent upon SPCH 2380 – Oral Interpretation being deleted from the list of electives at this time until the department either deletes the course or changes the prefix from SPCH to THEA.  Dr. Jakubowski seconded the motion.  Discussion followed.  Motion passed unanimously.               

The information items included: 

1.             Prerequisite change for MGMT 2301 – Business Communication

                        Change from required completion of INFO 1343 to require students to have sophomore status.

2.             Delete Associate of Applied Sciences degree – Physical Therapist Assistant.
