

Desk Assistants
The Desk Assistant (DA) reports directly to their Residence Coordinator and functions as a receptionist, an information source, a policy enforcer, a security agent, and a representative to the university's students, family, and guests. The DA is responsible for fulfilling the following duties:
- Respond to any questions asked at the desk and answer any phone calls received at the desk. Take accurate messages for campus staff and students.
- Monitor the lobby area and report any policy violations or maintenance concerns to the RA on Duty or the Residence Coordinator.
- Be knowledgeable about emergency procedures and the specific role of the DA regarding: fire alarms, tornado warnings, bomb threats, and medical emergencies.
- Distribute packages to residents.
- Check out games and equipment supplies at the desk to residents of your particular area only.
- Keep the front desk area clean and clutter free.
Compensation
Desk Assistants are paid hourly through 1502 Federal Work Study.

Resident Assistants
The Resident Assistant (RA) reports directly to their Residence Coordinator and to the Area Coordinator. The primary responsibility of the Resident Assistant is to assist residential students in realizing the opportunities for self-development through group living in the residence halls of the University of Central Arkansas. Fundamental to the position is the concept of “ role model,” as staff members are the closest and most vital link with residents. The Resident Assistant is assigned responsibilities that encompass both student personnel services and general administrative functions.
The Resident Assistant is expected to help build a feeling of togetherness and community by initiating and organizing floor, suite, apartment or hall activities and programs. S/he serves as an informational resource about the campus and residence hall.
Compensation
Resident Assistants are paid the equivalent of room and board. All RA’s are given a single room, which is billed at the double room rate.
