Asian studies workshop
Representing Excellence: The Authoritative in South and East Asian
Art and Literature is part of a two-year project funded by the National
Endowment for the Humanities. Dr. Steven Goldberg, Chinese Art History,
Hamilton College, will serve as the workshop director. The workshop will
be April 10-14 in Nashville, Tenn. For more information visit the

IDC Brown Bag
The IDC will have a Brown Bag program titled "10 years of IEP--how
are we doing?" on Feb. 20 in East McCastlain at 12 p.m. Intensive
English Program Interim Coordinator Lynn Ramage Schaefer, assisted by
IEP
faculty, will report on the progress of the
Intensive English Program since its beginning at UCA in January 1992.
She will also share results of a faculty survey on international
students and suggest ways to accommodate international students in
university courses.

Rotaract Club planning meeting
All students are invited to attend the second planning meeting of
the UCA Rotaract Club on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at X-period in Irby Room 208.
Rotaract Club is a student organization sponsored by the Conway Morning
and Noon Rotary Clubs designed to provide an avenue for college students
to fulfill Rotary International's motto, "Service above Self."
International students who are Rotaract members in their home countries
are also encouraged to attend.
Ashley Ridlon, a junior medical sociology major in the Honors
College, who is also a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar will be the guest
speaker.
Rotaract Clubs around the world work in their communities to provide
needed humanitarian services and to increase international

FERPA training session
There will be a training session addressing the Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act, otherwise known as FERPA or the Buckley
Amendment, on February 19 during X-period in McCastlain Room 143. Norma
Tio, Tony Sitz, Jeff Showell, and Melissa Rust will present information
and be available to answer questions. If you have any involvement with
student educational records and did not attend a session last semester,
you should consider attending this presentation. You may register by

UCA Business seminars
Employee Teams: Working Together for your Business Success
This eight-hour seminar will focus on practical knowledge and use of
successful business team building and applications. Participants will
work together in developing an understanding of how teams in
various-sized businesses can add to their commercial success. The roles
of managers, team leaders and members will be discussed.

Customer Service: Builds Profits!
This eight-hour seminar will explore the answer to the question,
"So, if everyone understands what customer service is, why are
there so many customer service complaints?" The participants will
look at how business owners, managers, and employees can work together
and understand customer service from their customers’ perspective and
then provide a level of service based on the expectations of their
customers. Simply, quality customer service built on relationship
management secures success!
