EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
SAB President
  1. Responsible for the overall organization and operation(s) of the SAB;
  2. Presides over all SAB Executive Board and SAB General Meetings;
  3. Acts as the official representative of the SAB;
  4. Formulates new programs directed at increasing the leadership skills of the SAB and its Executive Board;
  5. Meets weekly with the Director of Student Activities, the Executive Board, and, if necessary, individual Committee Chairpersons;
  6. Identifies new program areas and implements a system for evaluating programs;
  7. Maintains no less than 6 hours and no more than 10 hours per week in the SAB Office (office hours must be posted).
SAB Vice President
  1. Coordinate with the executive board (A) an ongoing program of leadership development, (B) training workshops for the executive council and the SAB membership, and (C) the executive board retreat;
  2. Attend and actively participate in weekly executive board meetings;
  3. Collect minutes and rosters from each committee chairperson;
  4. In the absence of a committee chairperson, the Vice President shall assume responsibility for the committee until a replacement can be selected;
  5. Primarily responsible for the entire recruitment campaign and election process for SAB (This includes all aspects of the preparation of publicity material, advertisement, brochures, arranging dates and locations, and coordinating the interview staff and process;
  6. Serve in the absence of the President;
  7. Work at least 4 hours in the SAB Office (Hours must be posted).
SAB Secretary
  1. Attend and actively participate in weekly executive board meetings;
  2. Maintain an accurate roster and phone directory of the executive board and SAB membership;
  3. Prepare President’s meeting agendas for each week’s executive meeting;
  4. Take executive meeting minutes and have copies of prior week’s minutes to distribute at next meeting;
  5. Check SAB mail and distribute to respective committee or chairperson;
  6. Announce invitations to participate in on/off campus activities from other organizations to executive board in a timely manner;
  7. Coordinate all participation efforts with other organizations for setup, membership participation, etc. (Ex. Bear Facts Day or Student Organizational Fair);
  8. Work at least 3 hours in the SAB Office (Hours must be posted).
Responsibilities for ALL chairpersons:
  1. Attend and actively participate in weekly executive board meetings;
  2. Maintain an accurate roster and phone directory of the committee members;
  3. Hold regularly scheduled committee meetings and turn in meeting agendas and attendance to SAB Secretary;
  4. Enthusiastically recruit new members;
  5. Make effort to include all committee members, at some level, in the programming of events;
  6. Follow specific and timely planning procedures;
  7. Support all SAB events through attendance and participation;
  8. Work a minimum of 3 hours per week in the SAB Office (Hours must be posted).
Lecture Chairperson
The Lecture Chairperson plans, promotes, produces, and evaluates a well-rounded lecture program for students. The lectures should include speakers on diversity and current educational/entertainment trends. This committee also coordinates with individuals involved with Disability Awareness Week and Black History Month. The Lecture Chairperson must work no less than 3 office hours per week in the SAB Office.
Comedy Chairperson
The Comedy Chair person plans, promotes, and produces live comedy events involving some of today’s leading college based comedians, including the production of the major comedy show. This committee also coordinates with Welcome Week to provide evening entertainment for Fall Orientation and may also work in conjunction with other university constituents. The Comedy Chairperson must work no less than 3 office hours per week in the SAB Office.
Music Chairperson
The Music Chair person plans, organizes, promotes and evaluates a well-rounded program of activities for the campus community. The major concert is the primary responsibility for the committee. This committee may also book smaller bands to perform at the RSO fair, in the Student Center, or at events such as Harambee and Finals Fest. The Music Chairperson must work no less than 3 office hours per week in the SAB Office.
Novelty Chairperson
The Novelty Chairperson plans, organizes, promotes, and evaluates a well-rounded program of activities for the students. This committee coordinates with the Welcome Week Committee and also books events such as Laser Tag, Mechanical Bull, Make Your Own CD/Video, and the final event of the year, Finals Fest. The Novelty Chairperson must work no less than 3 office hours per week in the SAB Office.
Films Chairperson
This committee chairperson is responsible for booking films for the weekend. SAB has built up a great Film Series (Sunday Night at the Movies) and it is the responsibility of the chairperson to continue bringing quality films to campus. It is the goal of SAB to show at least two – three movies per month. The Weekend Programming/Films Chairperson must work no less than 3 office hours per week.
