Recruitment Rules and Schedule

The mission of the Office of Greek Services is to provide an educational support for fraternities and sororities, as they offer opportunities that contribute to the academic and social experience of students.  The Office of Greek Services shares a responsibility with alumni bodies and the national offices of the respective fraternities and sororities to see that the chapters advance the best interests of the individual student.

General Rules for IFC Recruitment Spring 2004 

  1. To participate in recruitment, you must be enrolled in at the University of Central Arkansas and have completed 12 hours of college credit with a 2.3 cumulative GPA.  Only students who meet these requirements are eligible to receive a bid to join a fraternity.

  2. Fraternities may not promise a bid to a recruit at any time during the recruitment period before 12 noon January 18th. (Bid Day).

  3. Recruits must not currently be or ever have been an initiated member of any National International Conference member fraternity.

  4. The official Recruitment Registration form must be completed and returned to the Greek Services Office no later than Tuesday, January 13th at 4:30 p.m.  Applications may be completed online at http://www.uca.edu/divisions/student/greeks/rushform.htm until midnight on Tuesday, January 13.

  1. Any student who registers after MIDNIGHT, JANUARY 13 (and is deemed eligible by Greek Services) may receive an open bid after January 20.

  2. STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT ACCEPTED BIDS ON Sunday, January 18th ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ATTEND BID PARTIES ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 18.  BID PARTIES ARE NOT TYPICALLY ALCOHOL -FREE, AND THEREFORE VIOLATE RECRUITMENT RULES.  ANY DOCUMENTED INCIDENTS OF THIS NATURE WILL RESULT IN IFC DISCIPLINARY ACTION.

  3. NO RECRUITMENT EVENTS OTHER THAN THOSE ON THE IFC APPROVED RECRUITMENT SCHEDULE ARE ALLOWED BY IFC.  The schedule is as follows:

  1. All Exclusive Night and Open Night Events shall end at designated times.  No recruits are to be at residences or events past your fraternity’s scheduled exclusive time for any reason.

  2. From 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8th until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18th, no visiting with chapters or contact between recruits and fraternity men is allowed other than the times prescribed by the IFC rules.

  3. All recruitment events and activities (group or individual) are ALCOHOL FREE and exclude participation by WOMEN (unless otherwise approved by a majority vote of IFC).

DOCUMENTED VIOLATIONS OF THESE 
RULES MAY RESULT IN 

  1. A RECRUIT LOSING AN OPPORTUNITY TO ACCEPT A BID.

  2. A FRATERNITY LOSING AN OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE RECRUITS.

  3. DISCIPLINE FROM IFC.
