UCA
FIVE STAR EVALUATION PROGRAM The Greek Task Force was formed in the Spring of 2000 to bring together UCA community members to find ways to support and improve the greek-letter organizations on campus. The charge of the task force
is to find ways to create conditions in our greek-letter organizations
where "bad things are LESS likely to happen". Dr. Gary
Roberts, Dean of Students, suggested that the task force focus on four
areas this semester:

DEFERRED RUSH One of the charges of the committee was to make recommendations regarding how to implement a "deferred rush" system to the Vice President of Student Services. The committee was to examine the current system used by UCA NPHC groups and determine how it could be used to improve the IFC and Panhellenic groups. Currently, NPHC groups require potential members to obtain 12 to 24 credit hours with a grade point average of 2.5 BEFORE they are allowed to pledge. The Task Force is considering a standard for all recognized greek organizations of a minimum of 12 hours of college credit and a 2.3 grade point average before a student can pledge. This standard would be a minimum and groups could create and enforce any standard that was higher. At this point, the 12 hour/2.3 GPA recommendation has not been officially approved by the Task Force. If you have comments, click here to send them via email. MINIMAL MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS COMING SOON One of the charges to the committee was to establish a "report card" system to rate greek-letter organizations on a variety of criteria (e.g. risk management practices, academic achievement, and community service). We have looked at various colleges across the country to see what they are doing in this area. Two examples include the University of Oregon and the University of Delaware. Look at the information below to see how these institutions increase accountability and integrity in their greek system.
